WD Designs launches awareness jewelry line for purpose and
profits Company offers non-profits a vehicle for fundraising while
"shining a light" on their cause.
Ashburn, VA - WD
Designs, LLC (www.awareness-bracelets.com) has just announced the official
launch of their awareness line of jewelry which, when partnered with non-profit
organizations, will enable these groups to attract attention to their cause
while serving as fundraising pieces as well.
What sets WD Designs
apart in the marketplace is the high quality, designer look, and detailed
workmanship in the jewelry, a direct result of the designers' years of
experience crafting custom jewelry for individuals. Made with sterling silver
or 14K gold filled, along with Swarovski crystals, gemstones, and other fine
materials, the uniqueness of the pieces is what makes them special. As a
fundraising product, WD Designs has created a jewelry line that allows the
non-profit to raise more money for their cause than they would with a cheaper,
lower end line of jewelry.
"People have demonstrated
their willingness to draw attention to a wide variety of causes by wearing
stretch band bracelets or simple strings of beads," explains Wendy Wooley,
co-founder of WD Designs. "The difference is that the distinctive look of our
jewelry makes their owners want to wear them often, to show them off as they
would any beautiful piece, only more so because they have been designed
specifically for a cause they believe in."
WD Designs helps
Capital Hospice, Pancreatic Cancer and more Over the past few months
WD Designs has partnered with several non-profit organizations to help them
raise awareness and funds for their causes. In September WD Designs' awareness
bracelets helped the Kenny Ayers Memorial Golf Tournament raise money for
pancreatic cancer and Virginia Tech scholarships
(www.awareness-bracelets.com/kenneth-ayers-foundation.html). During November -
Hospice Awareness Month - WD Designs sold their jewelry at the Grand Opening of
the hospice's thrift shop in Leesburg, VA, and other events, and donated a
percentage of their sales back to Capital Hospice
(www.awareness-bracelets.com/capital-hospice.html).
As noted on their
website, organizations typically choose a color to represent their cause so
that when the public sees something in that color, they are likely to think of
that cause. Who doesn't know that pink is the color for breast cancer
awareness? And many people now associate red with heart health. Using the
organization's representative color, WD Designs creates a unique bracelet made
of silver and/or gold, fine quality materials, and their finishing touch - a
charm in the shape of a remembrance ribbon, and an optional tag engraved with
the name of the cause or company.
"With the help of WD
Designs, we believe more people will come to associate the color orange with
leukemia, for example, teal with ovarian cancer, light blue with prostrate
cancer, and so on," says co-founder Cathy Dorman. "Not only will the color have
attracted their attention, but the unusual design of the jewelry as well. And
the organization will have received donations significant enough to continue to
promote their cause."
About WD Designs
Cathy
Dorman and Wendy Wooley began designing jewelry together in 2003, using the
same precious elements and fine workmanship to create Mother's Bracelets,
Birthstone Bracelets, and a Contemporary Line of bracelets and necklaces. Then,
when cancer touched both families, the women made bracelets that each family
member could wear so that, no matter how far apart they were, they would feel
united in their fight. They found the act of wearing the bracelets so
comforting and empowering that they knew others would feel the same, and began
to pour their creative energies into finely crafted awareness jewelry. Based on
its unusual design, WD Designs received a patent for their Signature Awareness
Bracelet, further assuring the value of the bracelets to their owners and to
the causes they help to promote and fund.
WD Designs will work with
any organization to create unique jewelry that will be both beautiful and
beneficial to their cause. For more information contact Wendy Wooley at (703)
